At John Brotchie we strive to develop a sense of community with the preschool between the children, educators, parents and the local community. We want the preschool to be a service for parents and a place where families feel welcome and supported. Our preschool also benefits from your input, suggestions, support and assistance in the day-to-day running of the preschool.
WAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
Come and play - We always welcome parents or family members who would like to come in and become involved in the preschool curriculum. You might like to come and play with the children, maybe you would like to cook, create, read, do puzzles, sing, dance, play basketball or garden with the children. If you would like to come and play or you have any suggestions, please speak to your child's educators to arrange a time.
Parent nights - Throughout the year the educators and P & C organise parent nights. At these nights you are able to meet and socialise with other parents, learn about the preschool curriculum, support the teachers and have a say about what goes on at your child's preschool. (See preschool calendar for dates).
Parent Coffee Morning -Once a term we hold coffee mornings. This is an opportunity to meet with other parents, discuss issues/topics of interest and get involved with preschool activities. We also provide child minding for younger siblings or children who attend on other days. (See preschool calendar).
Excursions - We always need parent/family helpers when we take the children out of the preschool. When we take children out of the preschool we like to encourage talking and learning so to do this we like to have as many willing participants as possible.
Working Bee - Each year we hold at least 1 working bee, usually held on a Saturday morning. At the working bee you can help in the garden, clean or do general repairs.
We always value contributions or voluntary work so please let us know if you would like to help or if you have any suggestions.
